“Hi there, mark debond (who had a great time at The Slug and Lettuce, Southend and told us on 26th November 2009)
I just felt I had to let you know.
I was out Christmas shopping with my wife yesterday Wed 25th Nov in Southend when we decided to stop for a late lunch. It was a toss up between your Slug and Lettuce and Frankie and Bernies(!) down the road.As a pair of old farts and having used Frankies before we thought we'd be bold and give your pub a try! Wow what a decision! The interior was trendy yet subtle, the staff friendly and seemed to be happy in their work and it was refreshing to sit at a table without any sticky beer rings or other peoples left over food stuck to it!
I ordered a large white wine for the missus and a pint of Heineken for myself and we decided on the crispy duck platter.Well, what a choice – it was superb!! And all for well under £20.
Anyway, with 30 years experience in the licenced trade I just felt I had to let you know what a great job you are doing! Congrats to all the staff at the Southend branch, keep up the great work.
I hope you will forward this E-mail to them.
Regards
Mark DeBond”

“They were excellent – our area was well laid out and the signage was good. Lots of attentive bar staff keeping the tables clear. Would definitely recommend reserving an area in the Slug in Southend if someone was enquiring. Many thanks!”James Russell (who had a great time at The Slug and Lettuce, Southend and told us on 31st January 2010)
