Chester is a beautiful cathedral city - enclosed in Roman walls that are the most intact in England. It’s a stylish place with the Duke of Westminster and his family established local residents, and top footballers, Hollyoaks cast members and other celebrities often spotted in the bar. What with Tudor buildings dating from the 1600s and a Victorian architectural revival that championed the Tudor style, it’s hard not to love Chester.
Nearby, the Rodee is the country's oldest flat racing course. It’s where every year, from May to September, the hustle and bustle of ladies in hats and gentlemen in suits turn the city into a hive of glamour and excitement. Chester’s also excellent for shopping, whether you opt for the mall or venture out amongst its historic ‘Rows’. In summer you can while away the day in a boat on the river Dee. In the evenings, you can visit the theatre, catch a film or do a ghost walk. Weekend nights at The Slug and Lettuce see us welcoming every kind of customer - from friends winding down over platters, to hen parties and couples enjoying a quiet meal and a drink.
