Two great reasons to visit Canary Wharf:

Canary Wharf is a vibrant business district with a wide range of shops, restaurants, pubs and wine bars, as well as healthcare and leisure facilities and an extensive arts and events programme. Canary Wharf takes its name from an international shipping trade with the Canary Islands in the 18th and 19th century. Originally recognised as a thriving shipping port for the global sea trade, nowadays Canary Wharf is home to some of the world’s most renowned companies and institutions.

One Canada Square, or Canary Wharf Tower as it is more commonly known, is one of London’s most recognised buildings and stands at a height of 800ft (or 244m) making it the UK’s tallest building. Completed in 1991 and boasting 50 floors, Canary Wharf Tower is also a superstitious building in that it does not have a 13th floor; even the elevators have just a blank button for this level! Recently, a new building by the name of Columbus Tower has been approved by the London Mayor, Boris Johnson, which, when completed, will make it the UK’s tallest building, overtaking Canary Wharf Tower by a mere 6 feet.

Two great reasons to visit Slug in Canary Wharf:

The Slug and Lettuce in Canary Wharf is at the foot of Canary Wharf Tower (One Canada Square) so it is a great place to meet for after work drinks with friends and colleagues from around The Wharf. The o2 is nearby, only one stop away on the Jubilee Line, the perfect location if you’re heading to catch a concert and want avoid the crowds! Whether it’s a full English breakfast you fancy, a light salad for lunch, or one of our amazing sharing platters for dinner with friends…there’s really no reason for you to leave the bar at all!

We also have an extensive outdoor area so you don’t have to miss a moment of that precious sunshine over the summer months. Sit back, relax and watch the world go by whilst you nibble on our excellent food or pop in on a Friday night when the music is pumping and the atmosphere is seriously lively!
